Crête (La)

Crête (La) - Abbaye Founded in the year 1121, second daughter of Morimond, the abbey ?la Crête? is located in the valley ?le Rognon?, not far from the city of Chaumont; it had enough importance and prosperity to establish four others monasteries: Saint Benoit en Woêvre and Ecurey at the east of France, Les Feuillants near Toulouse and Matallana in Spain. A map dated of year 1705 shows that the abbey was still in good condition at the beginning of the 18th century but, on account of demolitions during the French Revolution, only are remaining the Gate building, the bridge, the abbot's house, the dove-cot, and a part of the wall. It is possible to go for a walk (2km) around the site to appreciate its isolation searched by the monks at the Middle Age chatre
