European Charter of Cistercian Abbeys and Sites

Joining the Charter

If you are the owner or manager of a cistercian abbey or dependency, you can join us.

Nothing could be easier.

Send us an email at : info@cister.eu

We will then contact you by telephone or email (please specify the languages you speak).

If, following these exchanges, you wish to proceed with your abbey's membership, you will receive:

• the three charters, including the association's statutes;

• information about annual membership fees;

• a membership form.

Upon joining, you will receive an enamel plaque bearing the Charter logo (see photo).

[We guarantee that any information you provide will never be disclosed]

Plaque to be placed at the entrance to the abbey, if possible

A simple organisational chart of the association

The association holds an Annual General Meeting each year. The Board of Directors presents reports and submits resolutions. Members can vote directly at the Annual General Meeting or by post. The association has an intranet system that allows everyone to register for the various events on offer.

Elected by the General Assembly, the Board of Directors appoints the president and the members of the executive secretariat. All of this is detailed in the association's statutes.

Note: all of the association's officers are volunteers; the association does not employ any staff, but calls on service providers for specific tasks.
