The treasure of monk’s forest

The treasure of monk’s forest is a pilgrimage which started over 30 years ago. It leads up Mount Górzec , on the Way of the Cross founded in 1740 all situated in the picturesque park of Chelmy. This year about 700 people took part in the pilgrimage on 14 September. The organizers of this event were : Roman Catholic Parish of St Andrew in Mecinka and the Order of Malta. The patron saint of the pilgrimage was St Father Pio. It all started after a collective prayer in the church in Mecinka and accompanied by a Lubawka Fire Department Orchestra all the pilgrims started their Way of the Cross. After reaching Mount Górzec at 3 o’clock p.m. a priest said Mass in the intention of all the pilgrims. The whole event was finished near ‘Rudolf’ tunnel with a family picnic organized by the Fire Department. The pilgrimage was organized thanks to the help of numerous voluntary workers. Special thanks should go to nurses, life-savers and the ambulance from Legnica who took care of all the pilgrims. The pilgrimage was a part of a bigger event which is European Days of Heritage and the Silesian Festival of Woluntary Work 2014. And one of the most important aims of this special event is to collect money for children suffering from cancer. In this year we were able to collect over six thousand zloty and the money was given to a charity organization helping the children in one of Wroclaw’s Clinic.
