Oia : The Cistercian Route in Galicia

From the Monastery of Oia we remain true to our commitment with the Charter, in order to get new members from Spain, mostly from our region, Galicia, in a first stage. We welcome the beautiful monasteries of Meira, Montederramo y A Franqueira to the Charter, and we hope receive many more from now on. Related to this, from Oia we are facing a new challenge: the implementation of the European Cultural Route of the Cistercian Abbeys, firstly in Galicia and then, if it is possible, collaborating and enhancing the visibility of this route in the rest of Spain through the networking. In order to facilitate the management of the route, a new association is created: the Association of the Cistercian Monasteries of Galicia. We expect to launch this project between this year and the next, and we would like to invite our dear friends of the Charter to visit our region. We will keep you updated.

Zdar : Opening of a new museum in the near future

The Kinsky family contacted other local owners (The Catholic Church, owner of the Abbey Basilica and the Zelena Hora Chapel, amongst others) and authorities to interest and involve them in a joint project for the reconstruction and revitalization of the entire complex. An Interpretation Center is now under construction within the original brewery. It will present the two golden ages of the monastery: its foundation in the XIIIth century, and its complete baroque era renovation, after a long period of historical mishaps, thus steeping the visitors in the historical context, and the spiritual and artistic aspirations and motivations of the times. The new museum will be part of the overall Cultural Exchange project, run by a non-profit cultural association, Se.S.TA. It is co-financed by its sponsors and the European Regional Development Plan. Du 04 juillet au 27 août : « l’Oiseau cloîtré » : tentures peintes de Bernard Merle. Le cheminement au cœur des toiles de l’artiste invite l’esprit en quête de spiritualité à s’envoler, tel l’oiseau cloîtré en quête de liberté. Amateur d’influences, Bernard Merle a construit sa peinture de la curiosité qu’il porte sans cesse aux différents courants artistiques, de la peinture italienne à la peinture hollandaise, de l’art abstrait à l’art figuratif. Son parcours atypique lui a permis d’aborder sa création comme une recherche personnelle de son travail, de ses capacités et de sa technique par la superposition de ce qu’il aimait, découvrait.

Maulbronner Klosterfest

Am 27. und 28. Juni 2015 verwandelt sich der Klosterhof in einen mittelalterlichen Schauplatz und entführt Sie in die Welt der Spielleute, Gaukler, Narren und Mönche. Kulinarisch werden die Besucher mit allerlei Köstlichkeiten von Gruppen und Vereinen verwöhnt. Für Kinder gibt es an beiden Tagen spezielle Kinderangebote. Mittelalterliche Händler und Handwerker wie Bürstenmachen, Buchbinder, Kerzenzieher und Schuhmacher sorgen für zusätzliche Unterhaltung. An beiden Tagen wird ein Wegezoll für den Eintritt erhoben. Auch 2015 gibt es günstige Angebote, das Klosterfest ohne Auto zu erreichen. Beinahe im Halbstunden-Takt werden Fahrten mit dem Klosterstadtexpress zwischen dem Bahnhof Maulbronn-West und dem Haltepunkt Maulbronn-Stadt angeboten. Marienthal : Katastrophe als Chance, Die Klosterkirche ist schöner denn je zuvor

Vier Jahre lang ist die Abteikirche nach dem verheerenden Hochwasser vom August 2010 renoviert und restauriert worden. Aber nicht nur das: Die große Chance zu Veränderung und Verbesserung, die sich der Konvent von St. Marienthal infolge des Zweiten VatikanischenKonzils schon lange gewünscht hatte, wurde jetzt wahrgenommen und umgesetzt. Am 12. Oktober 2014 sind die Kirche und der neue Zelebrationsaltar feierlich geweiht und das Gotteshaus seiner Bestimmung und den Schwestern zurückgegeben worden.

SE.S.TA, aims at attracting a wide public to the Abbey through different events. One of the most attractive is the « Concentus Moraviae » music festival will present an « international harp encounter », under the guidance of the internationally known Czech harpist Jana Bouskova. Concerts, master classes and discussions on June 18th and 21st 2015, or how to introduce the annual June Music Festival in Zdar.

This year we also introduce special weekend events for wide public, especially for residents. « Gardens Open Days » on June 13rd and 14th 2015 offers view in secret castle gardens and wide accompanying program of lections and workshops. Also « Monastic night » on September 5th 2015 will present mysterious atmosphere full of dance, music and guided tours.

São Cristóvão de Lafões : a concert in the Abbey Church

In the wake of tradition, the Monastery will host on May 18 a vocal concert. The group Ars Nova, under the musical direction of Prof. Alexandrino, will interpret church music of the 17th.-18th. centuries, mostly of Portuguese composers, some of them rarely given in concert. The concert is integrated in the Cultural Meeting organised by the Association of Friends of the Monastery, an annual event which will occur on May 18-19, for the eleventh time.

Maulbronn : Weinmesse Westlicher Stromberg

Am 11. und 12. April 2015 findet in der historischen Kulisse des Maulbronner Klosters eine Weinmesse statt. Fünf Weingärtnergenossenschaften zusammen mit sechs Weingütern bieten den Besuchern die Gelegenheit zur Verkostung von über 100 Weinen und Sekten aus der Region Westlicher Stromberg. Kulinarische Spezialitäten, ausgewählte Brotspezialitäten und Feingebäck sowie Weinliteratur runden das Angebot ab. Die Stadthalle ist am Samstag von 17.00 bis 22.00 Uhr geöffnet, am Sonntag von 11.00 bis 18.00 Uhr. Der Eintritt kostet – inklusive der Verkostung aller Weine – 12 Euro. Bierzwnik : a new energy…

The Association of the Post-Cistercian Heritage Protection in Bierzwnik began the year of 2015 with a new energy, resulting from the fact that in autumn 2014 we had been awarded by the local administration in Choszczno (Starostwo Powiatowe) a diploma for activities undertaken by our Association for local community. This year, together with local administration of Bierzwnik we are organising the 10th Forum of the Cistercian Route in Poland – aiming to celebrate the Jubilee of the 900th anniversary of the Clairvaux Abbey, a daughter-house of which Bierzwnik was. As an attempt to popularise the recognition of Cistercians with local community, the Association is publishing this year a book for children, illustrated with drawings drawn by participants of our workshop in 2014 (as mentioned last year).
