Montheron

Former Cistercian abbey, now reformed temple and inn north of Lausanne. The abbey was dedicated March 25, 1135 by the Bishop of Lausanne, Guy Maligny, former monk Cistercian and friend of St. Bernard. This ?monasterium Thelæ? (stream, ?Thela? now ?Talent?) later became the Abbey of Our Lady of Montheron. Burned in the 15th century, rebuilt in the late- -Gothic, the church of the 12th century became reformed Temple until it was demolished about 1592. The chapter house was used as a place of worship, replaced in 1668 by a new temple, established in the former monks' dormitory. Expanded in 1792 (Baroque facade and restored several times (1928-1960-2007), the building now houses Worship of the Reformed congregation of Upper Talent. In the basement, the remains of the old hall chapter, the sacristy and armarium have been converted into archaeological site visited (permanently open).
