Petit-Quincy (Le)

Petit-Quincy (Le) - Abbaye The Domaine of Abbaye de Petit Quincy is one of the most beautiful and most prestigious wine estates in the Yonne department. The Abbaye du Petit Quincy was at the origin a gift from the Lord of Tonnerre to the Abbot of Quincy who was part of the Cistercian monks in the 13th century. This property became an important cellar for the monks and was also used as a summer residence. The Abbaye collapsed in the 16th century and local winegrowers took over the cultivation and protection of the vineyards. The Abbaye was acquired by the GRUHIER family in 1990 after 20 years of nonexploitation. They gave the Abbaye a new lease of life and restored the old charm and country style to the property. Today the vineyards attached to the property are producing more then 25 hectares of two of Burgundies most noble grape varieties; the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These quality grapes produce prestigious appellations such as Epineuil, Tonnerre and Chablis and have been decorated by the most reputable wine books and magazines in France including the Guide Hachette of Wine, Guide Gault & Millau and the Revue des Vins de France. A leading pioneer in the region for organic farming, the Abbaye uses only organic fertilizer and integrated pest management is part of the vine and grape protection practices. Today, 13 hectares are now totally cultivated organically. A rare authentic jewel to discover. A warm welcome awaits you at The Domaine de l'Abbaye de Petit Quincy in beautiful and natural surroundings.
